Cannabis derived CBD (Cannabidiol) oil is a non-psychotropic phyto cannabinoid (plant compound) found in varying quantities in Cannabis Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis.

Recognised for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective benefits, CBD has been proven to be an effective treatment for many patients who could not find relief with conventional medicine alone.

A BRIEF LOOK AT SOME OF THE MANY USES OF CBD OIL

FIRST TIME BUYER?

If you’re here as a first-time buyer of CBD products, we are sure you have a lot of questions. Here are some of our customers most frequently asked questions:

CBD oil or tincture is produced by extracting CBD from a cannabis plant and mixing it with a base ingredient such as hemp seed oil, olive oil or alcohol. The user takes drops of CBD oil by holding it under the tongue, so it is absorbed promptly into the bloodstream.

People all over the world are finding that CBD helps treat numerous conditions which have not reacted well to traditional medications. New uses for CBD are discovered every day. Though chronic pain, anxiety, and epilepsy are the most common ailments CBD is used to treat.

Whether the CBD oil comes from hemp or marijuana, the best CBD oil is a full cannabis plant extract which contains flavonoids and terpenes. The best CBD oils are those that are tested in a laboratory that guarantees its potency and use as a safe product fit for human and pet consumption.

CBD oil or tincture is taken under the tongue and is absorbed into the bloodstream faster than capsules or edible products which are absorbed through the stomach. CBD edibles are foods suffused with CBD. CBD edibles available include gum, gummy bears, chocolates and hard-boiled sweets.

It’s a question of personal preference. The advantage they have over oil is they taste good; you can determine a more exact dose and edibles can be consumed discreetly. Oils has the advantage of faster absorption, and some users claim the tincture is to some extent more potent than in edibles.

The longer you hold it, the better the absorption, but anywhere between 30 and 90 seconds will work.

There is no correct answer to this, as the dosage you require depends on several factors. These include your weight, the reason you are taking it, your body and how it reacts to CBD, and the strength of the product you have chosen. For example, the concentration of CBD in a single brand’s oils may be offered between 3% and 30%, and in some brands even higher.

If you are taking CBD prescribed by a doctor, they will give you an effective dosage, but if you are trying CBD on your own, it’s recommended to start small and slowly increase the amount you take.

If you are taking CBD for chronic pain, a good starting dose would be around 40mg. If after a few days you are still in pain, increase the dose by 5mg. If this doesn’t help, add another 5mg. At 50mg you might feel a significant reduction and decide that this is the right dose for you. The only method to determine the correct dose for you is by trial and error.

It is a good idea to make a note of your dosing and any improvement in symptoms.

Edibles like CBD gummies and capsules likely state on the label how many mg of CBD is in a single serving. For example, a label on CBD capsules might say each capsule has 5 mg of CBD.

If you’re using a CBD oil or tincture, it will probably be in a dropper bottle. The label might say how much CBD is one drop. If so, its quite easy to work out how many drops you should take to meet your dosage.

However, with some brands it is more complex to figure out how many drops you need, because the label only tells you how much CBD is in the bottle, and not each drop.

One drop is equivalent to around 0.05 ml. So, a standard 10ml bottle has 200 drops. If the bottle has 800mg of CBD, each drop will provide 4mg. So, if you want to try a dosage of 20mg for your condition, you would need to take 5 drops.

You would have to drink copious amounts of CBD to produce adverse effects, and even extreme quantities will not result in death. However, it is possible that you are taking too high a dosage if you feel very lethargic or drowsy.

The entourage effect is the synergistic interaction of naturally occurring composites found in cannabis. The terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids in cannabis work better when they are consumed together as opposed to used separately from each other.

CBD has been found to be just as effective in pets as it is in humans, and can be given for the same issues: anxiety, inflammation, pain, seizures, etc. However, the amount the animal needs will likely be much less than you take, so it is a good idea to consult with a holistic vet before giving your pets CBD.

Possible side effects include changes in appetite which may lead to weight fluctuation, although CBD is also effective for regulating appetite in both overweight and underweight people. Other side effects are tiredness and diarrhoea. Some users also report a dry mouth.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), are two natural compounds found in Cannabis.

CBD can be extracted from marijuana or hemp. Hemp is a plant of the cannabis genus that contains less than 0.3 percent THC, while marijuana plants (also of the cannabis genus contain higher concentrations of THC.

THC is the leading psychoactive compound in marijuana that creates a “high”, usually achieved by smoking marijuana.

CBD is not psychoactive like THC although traces of THC (less than 0.02%) maybe found in some brands, this is not nearly enough to get you high. But you may find CBD does affect your mental condition, as it can cause a slight feeling of relaxation in some users, while others report increased alertness and mental clarity after taking CBD.

CBD is not an addictive substance. Moreover, CBD has the potential to be a helpful tool to help people break addictions to other unhealthy substances.

No, CBD oil is a medicinal product, a liquid tincture of CBD. Hemp oil is a nutritious food product made by pressing hemp seeds. Hemp oil does not contain CBD.

Yes. CBD is metabolized by a group of enzymes which are the same enzymes that metabolize many common drugs. So, CBD can affect the activity of the enzymes. CBD drug interactions are more probable in users taking high doses of CBD or CBD isolates, so precaution is wise if you take CBD with medications prescribed for serious conditions, and should be approved by your doctor. If you are taking drugs that may interact with grapefruit, it is also wise to consult your doctor before taking CBD products.

It’s unusual, but there are cases reported where CBD has affected a drug test. Some drug tests may show a false positive due to a tiny percentage of cannabidiol compounds in the body. People have failed drug tests due to the trace amount of THC in the CBD oil they used, but it is very rare.

CBD is legal in the UK as long as it contains no more than 0.02% THC, which is a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
